Chanel is my smoking partner

This pot is inspired by the Hubbard amphora in Cyprus and is dated from the 8th BC. The Cypro-Geometric period of Cyprus developed uniquely in different parts of the island. The western part was more severe and geometric, and the eastern part was more exuberant. Potters were ambitious in their decoration, involving a number of human figures and scenes of religious ritual. The Hubbard amphora I draw from describes a funeral ritual of oriental character. A woman is sitting on a throne and is drinking through a tube from a jar, into which a female attendant pours a liquid. This imagery is twisted into a more contemporary scene that depicts youth today. Sitting on a chair with UGG boots, listening to music, watching TV, and smoking after a tiring day of shopping. A lot of teenagers take advantage of the comfort that their parents work to offer them. This illustration questions the youth’s apathy, and consequently their sensitivity to the bigger social issues around them.
